I like the idea of a neat retracted step; however, they do not function very when coming down the tree. Because of the position on the step, it is too close to the tree and actually rest on the tree. This makes it very difficult to get your foot in. I was in shorts. In a hunting situation, it will be near impossible to get your foot in.

Wish I had read the other review, spot on about the difficulty descending with these aiders. I literally have to squat down on the bottom step and loop it around my foot with my hand sometimes. Kit is well made and packs up nicely, easy enough to put together. Maybe running the Amsteel through a different set of holes would work.
